Paws in the Park this Saturday

Tails will wag at Paws in the Park, Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Lakeside Park. The event is free to the public.
Pets and pet owners will have the opportunity to participate in numerous fun activities. Owners can enter their pets into the costume pet contest, the pet/owner look-alike contest, most unique, best trick, prettiest girls and most handsome boy contest with small/medium and large categories.
Entertainment includes live music and dancers from the Starz Performing Arts Centre will perform. Free arts and crafts will be available for people to participate in.
Pell City photographer Wallace Bromberg will be on site to photograph owners and pets. Photos will be printed on site for people to take with them.
Food vendors will provide yummy treats available for purchase as well as t-shirts with Paws in the Park designs on them. Other fundraising events include a silent auction and a 50/50 cash pot.
“This is a day to give back to the community and to those sponsors who have done so much for us,” Dana Ellison, the Paws in the Park fundraising co-chair said.
The ASPCI will have pets on site available for adoption.
“Animals will be rotated throughout the day to give everyone a chance to find a good pet,” Ellison said.
The shelter will also offer micro-chipping and spay/neuter certificates.
“This gives us an opportunity to educate the public and spay and neuter services and educate the public about what the shelter.”

Those who are unable to attend the event and would like to donate to the cause by making checks out to the ASPCI and bring them to shelter or contact Dana Ellison. Anyone interested in volunteering at the event may meet the Paws in the Park crew at Lakeside Park at 8 a.m.
