The mayoral race along with two city council seats in districts four and five in Leeds are still up for grabs.
Current mayor Eric Patterson faces off against long-time Leeds resident David Miller.
District four candidates Craig Wadsworth and Kelly Washburn are vying to fill the city council seat previously held by Charlotte Earnest.
District five candidates Devoris Ragland and Jack Courson are in a runoff to fill the seat vacated by Johnny Kile.
Running on the platform of, “Let’s keep Leeds on a path of continued progress, fiscal accountability and honest government,” Patterson is seeking a second term.
Pledging to be a mayor with, “Leadership, experience, integrity and common sense,” Miller is looking to clench a first term.
Striving to bring pride back to Leeds, Wadsworth wants Leeds to grow and grow together.
“I want to hear from citizens in person,” said Wadsworth. “Instead of division I want to bring Leeds together and help promote growth.”
Washburn wants to give back to the city that she says has given so much to her.
“It’s about the citizens of Leeds,” said Washburn. “I’m hear to be a voice for our citizens. I’ll work for you.”
Both graduates of Leeds High School, Wadsworth and Washburn are trying to secure their first run on the Leeds City Council.
Looking to instill unity in the community, Ragland’s campaign is—“One Leeds.”
“I have a passion for my hometown of Leeds,” said Ragland. “My mother is here. My family is here. I don’t take that lightly. I want people to know Leeds is open for business. That Leeds is a business friendly atmosphere, has an effective school board and partners with the chamber and other boards to market this city.”
Former Leeds mayor Jack Courson wants to remain active.
“I am proud of the things we were able to accomplish during my time (as an elected official). We were able to get the city park, civic center, ball fields, sewer extension and a lot of projects done,” said Courson. “It’s all about working hard toward the betterment of Leeds.”
