Sharpen those pencils, get ready to put on your first day of school best as your parents get a steal of a deal during the tax free holiday weekend.
Alabama’s seventh annual tax free holiday weekend means savings for citizens in St. Clair County and throughout the state.
Starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday, August 3 through midnight Sunday, August 5, shoppers are given the opportunity to buy certain school supplies, clothing and computers.
Designated items that fall in the “tax free” category are clothing under $100, books under $30, computers/computer equipment under $750 and school supplies under $50.
The tax-free holiday weekend isn’t only a great way to stay on budget, it also reminds shoppers to shop local.
Local businesses contribute more to their community, more of your money stays within the community and jobs stay in the area.
It also affords new businesses the chance to introduce themselves to the county, which can serve as a business builder and increase sales.
As retailers come together this weekend, August 3-5 to offer products that are tax-free, many think of it as a way to thank you to their customers for doing business with them.
