Celebrate New Year with free flowering trees

Alabama residents have the opportunity to ring in the New Year by receiving 10 free flowering trees by joining the Arbor Day Foundation during January 2012.

By becoming a member of the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation, Alabamians will receive two white flowering dogwoods, two flowering crabapples. two Washington hawthorns, two American redbuds and two golden rain trees.

The free trees are part of the foundation’s “Trees for America” campaign.

Trees will be shipped postpaid between Feb.1 and May 31 with enclosed planting instructions.  The six to 12 inch trees are guaranteed to grow, or they will be replaced free of charge.

Arbor Day Foundation members also receive a subscription to the foundation’s bi-monthly publication, “Arbor Day” and “The Tree Book,” which includes information about tree planning and care.
