Golden earns JeffCo EMT of the Year

On December 12, the family of Bobby Lane Golden, Jr., attended the annual BREMSS awards banquet at the Pelham Civic Complex. Lieutenant Bobby Golden Jr. was the recipient of the Jefferson County EMT of the Year Award. Bobby’s chief, Larry Manning of the Midfield Fire Department, presented the award with many words of praise.
Bobby’s wife Deborah and son Dylan, his mother Julia Golden, sister Lisa Reaves and her husband Todd and son Micah were all present at the awards banquet.
Bobby’s sister Janet and husband Joe Thompson were unable to attend. The food was delicious and the decorations beautiful.
Bobby has been a firefighter for thirty-three years. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter at the Wattsville Fire Department.
In 1985, he started working for the Birmingham Fire Department.
In 2006, after twenty-one years of service, Bobby retired. He then began a career with the Midfield Fire Department where he currently serves as the EMS Director and holds the rank of Lieutenant.
He is Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Wattsville Fire Department and a patient care technician in the emergency department as well as being in the volunteer chaplain program of our own new, St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital.
He is a member of Arbor Baptist where he serves as Sunday school teacher and director of the bus ministry.
