Pell City continues to make progress in updating their sewer system.

The city undertook a number of projects designed to improve the functionality of their outdated sewer system.

“We’re making these changes to update an old, antiquated system,” said Byron Woods, an engineer for Municipal Consultants and contracted engineer for the city.

Completed projects include rehabilitation of the Civic Center lift station and force main.  This new pumping station at the entrance of the park replaces one that was outdated and undersized.  Expansion of the wastewater treatment plant is complete.  The expansion is designed to increase the capacity of hydraulic solids.

The city has also completed interceptor installation, which runs from Industrial Park, behind Benjamin Moore to 12th Avenue  The lift station and force main on Wolf Creek Road was also updated.

“Sewer rehabilitation is ongoing and we continue to evaluate current conditions,” Woods said.

Phase II of updating the Fish Creek lift station and force main is nearing completion.  “The pumps are now operational,” Woods said.

“We are nearing the end of expanding our system, and I am pleased with the progress made,” Mayor Bill Hereford said.
