Austin Gauldin, VCS

Grade:  Junior.

Parents: Barry and Angie Gauldin.

Position:  Guard/Outside linebacker.

Other varsity sports:  Baseball.

His favorite sport:  “Football.  I like to hit.”

Back on the field:  Gauldin missed all of last football season after injuring his knee in the pre-season jamboree game.  “I’m glad to get back out there.  Training is usually heck, but I was just glad to be hitting somebody.”

Expectations for this season:  “A good year.  Maybe not a state championship, but I do expect victories.  I have a good feeling about it.”

Why his hopes are up:  “We’re playing more as a team, and our attitude is better.  We’re also stronger than we were last year.  We don’t have as many players, but we have stronger men on the field.”

About the Lions’ win in  last week’s jamboree:  “It was good to finally get a victory.  Our competition will be tougher during the season, so we’ll need to be prepared for that, not take them lightly, and work hard in the coming weeks.”
