2010 season:  3-7.

Last week’s jamboree:  The Tigers defeated Moody 21-13.

Friday night:  The team visits Fort Payne for a non-region game.  “We’re excited about it,” head coach Keith Maple said.  “We have a lot of young guys who have never started or played in a varsity game before, so they’re pumped, and we’re expecting a lot from these guys.”

This year’s senior class:  15 players.  “I’m real excited about having them back. They have some good experience now, and they’re all excited about the year.”

On last season’s disappointing finish:  “We’ve only had three years like that since I’ve been here, and we don’t want another one.  Down years often have to do with class size, and we only had six seniors last yer, and only three of those started.  The kids learned a lot from it, though, and they’ve worked hard to improve.”

On classifications:  “We’ve been up and down over the past five years.  We might be 5A again next year.  It’s tough in 5A, but it’s just as tough in 4A.  Look at our region.  There’s Alexandria.  How many state championships have they won?  Oneonta, St. Clair County, and Anniston have all won a few, and Cleburne County has been knocking at the door.  But we’re ready to play.  Our guys are tired of hitting each other.”
