- Meagan Freeman / Pell City High School
Parents: Christine and Randy Freeman.
GPA: 3.57.
After graduation: While in high school, she participated in dual enrollment classes through Jefferson State Community College, and plans to attend the University of Alabama. “I’m undecided about my major, but I’m thinking about communications, with a minor in Spanish, then law school,” she said late last year. “That’s the plan right now, and I don’t think it will change.”
Activities at PCHS: Homecoming queen, president of the senior class’ Student Government Association, co-captain of the Diamond Dolls, and member of the Beta Club and Spanish Honors Society. She was a member of the Lady Panthers varsity volleyball team, scoring 31 kills, 21 aces, 40 digs, 3 assists, and 2 blocks during her senior season.
Her favorite subject: History, with a particular interest in the Holocaust. “Ever since I read ‘The Hiding Place’ in the ninth grade, I’ve wanted to understand why so many people followed Hitler, how someone could be so charismatic, and how he could have so much influence that nobody could stand up and stop him. I can’t even comprehend concentration camps and how someone could hate other human beings that much. I would love to meet a Holocaust survivor.”
