Freezing rain advisory for St. Clair County

 The National Weather Service in Birmingham has Issued a Freezing

Rain Advisory, Which is in effect Until 4pm CST this Afternoon.

Patches of Light Rain and Freezing Rain Were Starting to Develop

in Central Mississippi and West Central Alabama, Which Are

Expected to Spread East of Interstate 65 this Afternoon. The

Combination of Light Precipitation and near Freezing Ground

Temperatures will Produce a Mixture of Light Freezing Rain

Sleet, and Rain Across the Area.

The Precipitation will Start Out very Light, but Could Become

Heavy Enough Later this Afternoon to Begin Lightly Coating

Elevated Surfaces with Ice. Use Extra Caution if Traveling This

Afternoon.

A Freezing Rain Advisory Means That Periods of Freezing Rain Or

Freezing Drizzle will Cause Some Travel Difficulties. be Prepared

for Slippery Roads. Slow Down and Use Caution While Driving.

Areas of Light Rain Have Increased in Coverage Across Central

Alabama Through the Morning Hours. More Rain has Also Developed In

Mississippi…which was Poised to Move Into Alabama. Ground

Temperatures in Many Areas are near or Below Freezing.

Therefore…the Threat of Light Freezing Rain will Gradually

Spread Across the Remainder of Central Alabama Through this Afternoon
