Residents want answers from New London Fire board

Cropwell and New London residents filled the water works meeting room to capacity last week to voice concerns.
The standing room only meeting saw residents question the water and fire board on why they have not bought a fire truck to replace one that is nearly 30 years old.
Residents also questioned the board on why it has half a million dollars in the bank, more than enough for a truck, yet still won’t buy a new rig.
The board informed residents that there was money in the bank and that it was insured.
The meeting saw many residents voice concerns over the non-action on purchasing equipment that has been requested by the fire department several times.
The board informed residents that it stands by its actions to not purchase a truck right after purchasing one within the last year.
“I just want to get a fire truck and get the community safe and stay out of their politics,” fire chief Jason Lane said after the meeting.
