Conrad Beland was visiting club member Ann Thomas’ garden during one of the Garden Club‘s garden tours when he saw something that caught his eye.

“I just looked down and took a picture,” Beland said. He saw a lizard sitting on a sign that read, “Life began in a garden.”

Beland donated the picture to the club, and the members placed it in the Pell City Library on Tuesday.

“It finally found its home,” said Liz Webb, vice president of the club.

The Garden Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Pell City Civic Center. They listen to speakers, talk about their gardens and plants and enjoy socializing with each other. They also work around the city by planting flowers and other plants. The club has about 35 members.

“We try to do what we can … to beautify Pell City,” said member Charlotte Wheat.
