Boaters on the Coosa River now officially have a docking spot in Riverside.

Riverside Landing is now open and last week it was announced that the pier will accomidate 12 boats at a time, something that many boaters have said would be a great asset to the area.

“The pier and everything is completed,” Councilman Jimmy Hollander told those gathered in Riverside lsat week. “It is really good and very stable. I’ve already had a million comments on how good it looks and how well its laid out.”

The peir has eight additional poles installed that will allow for 12 boats to be docked at a time. The only remaining work that needed to be done as of last week was the instalation of tie-off cleats that will pop up for ease of use by boaters.

The floating pier is 768 square feet and includes an archway connecting the floating pier to the boardwalk and was constructed by Tradesman Company.

The next phase of work to be done at Riverside Landing will include the addition of a gasoline pump that the council hopes can be outfitted so anyone can fuel up their boat 24-hours a day and pay with the ease of swiping a card.

Hollander said that he has already been in touch with companies who want to install a new pump on a smaller pier adjacent to the new one.

He said that in the coming weeks he hopes that a final agreement can be made in order to better serve those who enjoy the Coosa River.
