On Saturday, February 6 at 1 p.m., at Pell City High School’s Pete Rich Stadium, come out and watch as PCHS soccer players from years past defend their own against the current Pell City High School Varsity Soccer Team to a no-holds barred, winner-takes-all, nothing-but-a-fun-time, soccer match.

PCHS Soccer alumni from 1997 through 2009, men and women alike, have accepted the challenge from the junior and senior classes of the current 2010 boy’s and girl’s varsity soccer teams and are preparing themselves for this challenge. Every graduating class from 1997 – 2009 will have representatives participating in this event.

“We currently have over two dozen alumni that have committed to participating in the 2nd PCHS Soccer Alumni Game and I am contacted weekly by others who want to participate in some manner,” said Pell City High School Soccer Coach Jeff Samoranski. “I did not realize how much of an interest there was for this type of event.”

The fundraising event is in support of the soccer program at PCHS and is being held in combination with the opening of the new soccer building at the spring sports complex on the campus of Pell City High School. All donations received as a result of this fundraiser would subsidize the purchase of exercise equipment, uniforms, practice and field equipment as well as other items desperately needed by the soccer programs.

The soccer program at Pell City High School has grown tremendously over the past 13 years. We want to honor those that have played for the high school as well as present the current soccer teams to our community; we might even have a little fun while doing this. The alumni game will be the headlining event, but we will have other proceedings happening that day. The Logan Martin Soccer Association, the local soccer club, will be holding their player evaluations in the morning prior to the alumni game as well as a half-time show in conjunction with the alumni game.
