Just what is “Bargainomics?” According to Ms. Bates, the term she coined is simply “the art of learning to be the very best possible manager of your time and money.” That’s what this queen of bargain-hunting knows best, and she delights in sharing this information with viewers of Fox 6 Television’s Good Day Alabama in her segments aired around 8:00 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month, and on the Fox 6 News reports every Tuesday between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. “Bargainomics” teachings were the basis for a radio program featuring Ms. Bates which aired for two years on 93.7 WDJC Radio in Birmingham and later on WELP Radio in Greenville, South Carolina, and on WAKA-TV mid-day news in Montgomery, Alabama. Her money and time-management philosophies have also led to the release of several books on the subject, including: Bargainomics: Money Management by the Book—Practical Advice for Stretching Your Dollars and
The Gospel Truth about Money Management. The Bargainomics Lady even maintains a website (www.bargainomics.com) with monthly specials and up-to-the minute bargain alerts, with sources for everything from designer skirts and purses to travel deals and gift baskets, all at huge discounts.
A popular speaker to civic organizations and church groups, Ms. Bates brings her own brand of humor to the mix of strategies, resources, and sound economic advise to present a program which is helpful as well as entertaining.
Judy Bates was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and currently resides in the Birmingham area with her husband, Larry. She will be the guest speaker for the Pell City Library’s Wild and Wonderful Wednesday series on Wednesday, January 20th at noon.
